The practice scarf is half done!!! =) Anyhow I thought I'd get farther with it but alas life calls..in any case I hope to get some knitting time in this afternnon.

DH says he can tell I am getting better at the knit stitch because my needles now clack.lol. (btw he has claimed this scarf already so I guess it doesn't look half bad!) Anyways I ended up redoing the scarf at least 3 times, with different yarns & needle sizes mind you until I found just the right combo that seemed to flow for me. lol. (yes I'm a bit of a perfectionist if you couldn't tell even with practice pieces.hehe) I am now using size 13 needles and 2 strands of cheapo acrylic (one green/blue varigated and another hunter green) It's looks cool, it's real thick & chunky and will be nice & warm. I may even have to make a couple more of these to use up some yarn!

The practice scarf is coming along (mistakes and all) and I hope to finish this over the weekend so I can start the real thing this coming week. I am doing the whole thing in knit stitch so it's been pretty easy. I bought some fab yarn for my real scarf project, not sure of the exact lingo yet on fibers but there are 3 different kinds. 2 are mohair (teal & purple) and the other is a funky 3 string deal with metallic and fuzzies all running through it (yeah I know, great descriptions,eh!?!). I plan to do this next one is something more exiting than just garter stitch though ;0)

I really wish I could find some hip mamas & papas to knit with so I am searching for groups in my area. I was going to a sit n knit night at my LYS (well it's really not local as it's a 2 hour round trip drive from my rural home) when I was learning to knit & purl but you have to either pay or buy their yarn to go which I think is lame. Lucky for me I do live near an artists colony so I'm sure I can find some willing bodies somewhere..I will have to ask my friend Jennifer who she knows as she's the type who knows everyone!

Otherwise I'm enjoying my copy of stitch n bitch my mom got me for xmas! I really love the mod shawl in there and the cat bed so I'm adding that to my list of future projects when I get more adept! First though I want to make my son something he can wear home from the birth center where I'll be birthing him. (this is my first baby btw so I have been wanting to make EVERYTHING I see baby related.lol) So far I've done a bunch of blankets (crochet & patchwork) but would like to make him some little sweaters and stuff.

Well I ended up staying up way too late last night working on my scarf only to end up ripping the damn thing apart this morning..grrr..I've decided to do a *practice* scarf with some cheapo acrylic yarn first before I ruin my expensive stuff. Hopefully today I will make some progress on this! Otherwise I've been drooling over others work online and wishing I were not such a beginner right now! Sad but true my project list is sooo long of stuff I want to make and I have yet to even finish my first project!

Thought I would create a blog for my newly found obsession of knitting! =) I'm only a beginner really, and just learned how to knit in November, so mostly what I've accomplished thus far has been practice. but I have been inspired latley to learn more in the coming weeks and make some goodies for my baby to be (due in just a few weeks) so I best get busy! My first project however is a scarf for me so I hopt to finish that up soon. will post a picture when it's done!
